Gabrielle Fillinger

Gabrielle Fillinger is a graduate student in European Studies at the University of Virginia. She completed her B.A. in History and English in the Area Program in Literary Prose. She is interested in the ways that the ritualization and performance of culture is used as a means of establishing a national identity. Specifically she is interested in how museums, heritage sites, and literature contribute to the creation, performance, and dissemination of culture in the UK. Additionally, she is interested in the way that local history and practices may challenge these ideas.
