Education:
M.A. Candidate in European Studies , University of Virginia (2023)
B.A. International Affairs, George Washington University (2019)

Emma Krasnopoler is a graduate student at the University of Virginia pursuing an M.A. in European Studies. She previously earned a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University where she focused on international sustainability and energy policy. She studied in Prague, Czech Republic in 2018, in Strasbourg, France in 2021, and plans to study in Lyon, France in Fall 2022. Emma's academic interests are focused on France, particularly in the study of cultural heritage, the role of European institutions, the distinction between history and memory, and cultural landscape theory. She is especially curious how the study of landscapes can reveal confluences and discrepancies in collective memories and accepted narratives about the history of France, its peoples, and its environment. She is currently conducting research with a UVA 3 Cavaliers project that looks at collection and translation of cultural landscapes in 18th century Southwest France.
